On Monday, July 24, 2023, the Bank of Jamaica (BOJ) announced the issue of a $28 Billion 30-Day Fixed Rate Certificate of Deposit, namely 7.50% BOJ FR 30D-CD 20230728 for settlement on Friday, July 28, 2023. Results of the auction showed the CD was oversubscribed 1.46 times with 326 bids received totaling $40.967 Billion. The total offer of $28 Billion was allotted with only 229 bids being
successful, with an average yield of 8.91 per cent and a price of $99.85. The highest submitted bid rate for full allocation was 9.249 per cent for $300 million. Partial allocation was 73.47 per cent with a bid rate of 9.24999 per cent. Click here for more details

On July 28, 2023, the JSE Index declined by 2,597.54 points or 0.79 per cent to close at 325,270.08 points. Overall market activities resulted from trading in 63 stocks of which 25 advanced, 33 declined and 5 traded firms. The following companies represents the overall volume leaders, TransJamaican Highway Limited with 15,235,436 units at 26.55 per cent, Wigton Windfarm Limited Ordinary Shares with 7,854,549 units at 13.69 per cent and Stanley Motta Limited Ordinary Shares with 5,442,453 units at 9.48 per cent.
